Tips on the Canon EOS 6D
Control signal over long distances
ColorFoto author Maximilian Weinzierl has dealt more closely with the functions of the Canon EOS 6D (test) in conjunction with the Speedlite 600 EX-RT and now gives practical tips for the full-format DSLR - this time in focus: the flash functions via e- TTL.
Control options via the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT
Canons Top Speedlite 600EX-RT is wireless controlled by E-TTL, in this example of a house front, the living room interior is illuminated by means of two flash units placed on the cabinet and the light intensity is adapted to the outside light. Without additional flash in the interior, the window appears as a "dark cave". The Canon EOS 6D with the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT is located about 15 m away from the house and controls the flash units wirelessly over the radio.
Infrared counter radio
With two or three 600-EX-RT speedlite flash units to the Canon EOS 6D you can almost always have the studiolight.
Example: an inexpensive snapshot in the living room where the three flash units were simply placed on the supplied pedestals in the room - one on the left, one on the right and one behind the sofa for the release. The asymmetrical control was performed by the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT from the camera.
With the small attachment, up to 15 flash units can be controlled in five groups, on the one hand ETTL fully automatic wireless flashing with plus-minus correction of the individual blower units or a completely manual but different power control or a mixed selection of the different flash modes. Moreover, the handling and handling are very convenient and easy to understand.
The display of the transmitter is basically the same as with a Speedlite-600-X-RT flash.
Inside the room or in the studio with unobstructed visual connection, both systems should work equally reliably. However, in the open field and above the obstacles mentioned, radio control will be the better alternative
