PSN offline: maintenance requires downtime

The Playstation Network was down last night. Many players on Reddit complained that the PSN or SEN (Sony Entertainment Network) partly not accessible or equal completely offline was. A short time later, Sony announced on Twitter that they were aware of the problem and were following it.

The failure mainly affected the Playstation Store, which was not available to users of the PS4, Playstation 3 and PS Vita. Even online gambling was not possible or only possible to a limited extent, many players could not even join a multiplayer lobby.

In addition, Sony announced plans for maintenance, which are scheduled to take place on February 12 from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. During maintenance, many functions are offline or only partially accessible.

Affected by the Downtime are, among others, the Playstation Store, account management or services like Amazon Prime and Netflix. Collecting trophies is still possible and will be displayed in the account after the resume of the PSN operation.

Even if the PSN is down during the maintenance work, games can possibly continue to play online with a little gimmick. In order to have a chance to have multiplayer games despite the failure, you must log in to the SEN before the start of the maintenance.

Besides the solution of the past problems, the preparations for the upcoming free multiplayer weekend are also planned. From February 13 to February 15, PS4 owners can play numerous top games online for free.
