Writer: Insert Special Character
On a normal American keyboard you will not find all the special characters, such as © 3/4 ae c n ö o ¢. If you need such character "exotics", place the cursor in your document where the special character is to be inserted. Afterwards, select "Special characters" in the "Insert" main menu. The "Special characters" dialog box opens. Use the "Fonts" and "Area" fonts in the main window to navigate to the desired special character and select the character you want to insert with the mouse.

Impress does not have a keyboard shortcut to insert a new slide. Nevertheless, two clicks are sufficient to attach a blank slide. Click "Insert" in the menu at the top of the window. There the first entry is "Slide". This will insert a new slide into the presentation. Option 2: An overview bar is displayed on the left-hand side of the screen. Click with the right mouse button on the free area under the slides. The "New slide" option appears.

If several people work on a document, it makes sense to work with comments in the text. For example, it is immediately clear to everyone, where there are, for example, criticisms or changes. To insert a comment, place the cursor at the appropriate point in the text, and click "Comment" on the "Insert" menu (the "Note" option should be selected in older OpenOffice versions.)
An input window appears at the edge of the document. The window automatically displays the name of the current user as well as the date and time at the bottom. In this input box write your comment. When you save the document, the comment will continue to exist, including the date and time, until it is deleted.
If you only want to add certain values from a data specification, use the Calc formula "SUMMWAY". In the standard version of the function, the value check refers to the cells themselves to be added.
In our table, the expression = SUMWAY (B3: B14; 3) adds the contents of all cells in the range "B3" to "B14" that contain the value "3". In addition to an exact value, however, operators such as "greater than" and / or "smaller than" can also be used, e.g. = SUMWAY (C3: C14;> 50 ") Adds numbers greater than" 50 "
The formula construct = SUMWAY (D3: D14; " 130") adds all values of the respective range except the value "130". If you want to add all the numbers that range from 100 to 999, write: = SUMTWAY (E3: E14; "...") The three points represent a three-digit number. For four-digit numbers you set four points, etc. And here is another formula. If you select [SUM] (E3: E14; "[12] .."), all 3-digit numbers beginning with a 1 or 2, ie all numbers from 100 to 299 are added.
