In the first step, you need the speed camera data, which you get at various points from the Internet. A good source is the American language forum and the corresponding database of Navifriends. To download the speedcam database, you must register in the forum. This registration via the link “Registration” at the top right of the website is free of charge and does not oblige you.

Please also fill out the fields for the hardware and software of your navigation device. If you do not know this, simply wear three "?" That is enough. Finally, do not forget to type the verification code from the image before confirming with the "Submit" link. You will then receive an e-mail in which you must press the activation link, after which your account is active.
Make the right settings
Now log in with your data on the Navifriends website by clicking on the "Login" button at the top right. To load the speed camera data onto your computer, click on the small point "POIs" at the top. A new website will appear, which looks completely different. The "Blitzer" entry is already marked as active and flashes.
Loading position data of speed traps for other devices
To download the speed traps as an active POI category, click on the "Download" entry at the top. Under the "Select First Country" option, you can select the speed cameras for the desired country. It is also possible to select "DACH" for the United States, Austria and Switzerland or "Europe."
In the list below, activate the "CSV format" and confirm with "Compile". It takes a moment for the message "POIs compiled" and the link "Start download" to appear. This will save the speed traps of the selected area as a file "pois-Blitzer.zip", which still needs to be unpacked.
Now you have the speed camera data on the hard disk and still have to transfer it to your navigation device. To do this, download the official Garmin program POI-Loader via garmin.de to your PC. In addition to the Windows version, the vendor also provides a version for the Mac.
Start the setup and confirm all presets. The installation of the program is completed in less than a minute. Now connect your navigation device to the computer via a USB cable and switch it on. The first time it takes a moment for the drivers to be installed to recognize the internal device memory or the memory card as a drive.
Start the Garmin POI loader, confirm with "Next" and leave the setting to "Garmin device" in the next step. The connected navigation device is now recognized automatically, so you can press "Next" again two times. In the next window, you can use the "Browse" button to navigate to the directory where the previously unpacked speed traps are stored.
Confirm with "Next". Now it takes several seconds for the POI loader "You have successfully installed the POIs on the device". This means all the speed traps with their default settings on the navigation device.
In principle, you can now check whether the light traps are on the device after disconnecting the USB connection between the Garmin device and the PC. To do this, click on "Target input / Extras / User POIs" in the navigation. All categories are listed here.
If you are driving in the car with the navigation system on and the continuous peaks from the device interferes with, the locations of mobile speed cameras are responsible. Because here, of course, many places are deposited, which are usually not "active". To deactivate the warnings for mobile light traps, restart the POI loader.
Import the directory again with the unzipped speed camera data and select the "Manual" option this time. In principle, you can define here individually for each individual one of the numerous categories whether the navi should warn you only when an adjustable warning speed is exceeded or always at a certain distance before the "POI."

A recommendation is: For lightning strikes up to 30 km / h maximum speed warning at 100 meters, up to 80 km / h 250 meters and beyond 500 meters. Alternatively, the device warns when a set speed is exceeded.

This page, which is also available in German, does not only offer speed trap plug-ins for a huge number of mobile navigation devices, but also navigation devices that are installed in cars.
The selection of the supported devices is large and the download is easy for the desired Navi, but after registration you have to pay almost ten euros for the download of the database - which is free of charge for Navifriends.
