Google’s Android CEO Andy Rubin warns Samsung about a move in terms of operating system. It is understandable, however, if large manufacturers also think about alternative systems, said the Google Manager at the MWC 2013 in Barcelona. At the same time, he warned against an “all-in-one” from Samsung. One should not build islands that “do not work today”. “We need to build ecosystems that are open to different manufacturers.”
Currently, about 70 percent of all delivered smartphones are equipped with Android. Samsung, on the other hand, delivers around one in three of the smartphone sold worldwide, making it the most successful Android provider. So Google's concern is that Samsung could use its market power and the brand name Galaxy to become independent with its own operating systems from Google.
Another background of the comments is likely to be rumors that Google could push the Android brand further into the background after the app platform for the Android Market system had been renamed to Google Play
