Windows Blue: Successor of Windows 8 already mid-2013

Microsoft apparently wants to shorten the release cycle of its Windows products. According to Windows 8 from October 2012 is already mid-2013 with Windows Blue (Codename) the successor come. As unconfirmed sources against the online portal “The Verge”, Microsoft planned a platform-wide new approach for classic Windows devices and Windows smartphones. Changes to the concept of the user interface as well as to the price model are the main pillars. The operating system should be very cheap or even free to allow as many users as possible.

After the release, there will be an update for the Windows SDK (Software Development Kit), which allows developers to exclude projects for the current Windows 8 only. This is how early apps for Windows Blue are created. Despite the SDK update, Windows 8 apps are still compatible with the successor. The details of the informers of “The Verge” agree with ZDNet, according to which Windows Blue also requires a legal Windows requirement. A copy protection should lock the store and apps if Windows 8 was not properly activated.

According to this, Windows Blue itself is only an update for Windows 8, which is, however, annually larger updates to get. The name should possibly be left with Windows 8. With annual updates, Microsoft is planning to remain competitive against Apple iOS and Google Android, which are more often releasing new versions of their operating systems. By the way, Windows 8 has sold more than 40 million copies per month. This was partly due to a low entry price. By January 31, Microsoft still has Windows 8 offers for as low as $ 15.
