Netgear EX7000 Nighthawk extenders tested.
Conclusion
In the Crossband or FastLane process, the Nighthawk WiFi Range Extender EX7000 uses one radio band to connect to the router and the other to integrate the WLAN clients. Over the 5GHzband we reached sensational transmission rates of up to 650 Mbit / s. A pity that the EX7000 does not use DFS and thus only the 5 GHz channels 36 to 48. Alternatively, the EX7000 can also be operated as an access point. The setup of the device is well documented and works without a web menu without problems. Even the connection to the WLAN clients can easily be set up using the WPS button. The 125-euro comparatively expensive device consumes around 8 watts of power, but offers a 5-port gigabit switch and a USB 3.0 port with an integrated DLNA media server.
