The Medion Akoya E1240T (MD 99860) will be available from June 30th for 249 Euros at Aldi Nord. The laptop is both laptop and tablet – a convertible, a detachable or a hybrid device. The screen can be rotated not only for presentations, but also can decrease. The touch function of the display and the Windows 10 feature Continuum ensure that they can work optimally in both modes. Whether it’s really fun, we’ll show you our bargain check with the technical data and features.
The Medion Akoya E1240T features a 10.1-inch display with a full-HD resolution. 1.920 x 1.080 pixels are very good for a laptop screen of 10.1 inches (25.6 centimeters) in the diagonal, for a tablet rather standard. At the very least, the data on the display in the (laptop) price class of under 250 euros is remarkable. As processor (SoC) comes an Intel Atom x5-Z8350 with integrated graphics chip and working memory (2 GB) is used. The built-in Atom x5 is a quad-core processor with 1.44 GHz, which only under load loads the advertised 1.92 GHz clocks - at the expense of the operating temperature and the Akkulaufzeit - the latter gives Medion with up to eight hours
Both the 2 gigabytes of memory and the installed 64-GB flash memory are just enough for Windows 10 Home. With more elaborate sites in the browser and working under office, the performance reserves of the Medion Akoya E1240T are almost exhausted. In addition to Office, you can install everyday standard programs, and more than half the space is used. If you shoot still images or turn videos with the integrated back and front cameras of the tablet unit, you soon need an external storage carrier. With the integrated card reader, this is not a problem at all.
You should not expect miracles from the cameras. Medion does not provide information about the resolutions. We expect VGA (640 x 480 pixels) for the front and a maximum 720p resolution for the back camera - enough for Skype and fast snapshots. Connections and interfaces with micro-HDMI, WLAN-AC and audio inputs and outputs is the most important, even USB Type C. Included in the scope of supply is, besides a power supply, a Type-C OTG cable with which you can connect the USB connector of the tablet unit to all necessary USB devices.
The Medion Akoya E1240T is ideal as a second device for surfing and simple work. The equipment is for the price class Medion-typically good, the performance limits but quickly reached. As usual with Medion, there is a lot of additional software, mainly as test versions. Anyone who expects something more than surfing, emails, and unpretentious office work from a hybrid laptop will rather look for alternatives in our current hybrid notebook test.
