Fujifilm X-T1 officially introduced: weatherproof professional

With the X-T1, Fujifilm turns to ambitious and professional photographers and wants to convince with image quality, speed, equipment and operation. Technically, the Fujifilm X-T1 is built on the X-E2 in principle and is in the Fujifilm-X system between this and the top model X-Pro1.

The housing design with a central viewfinder, five manual setting wheels on the camera and a front and rear adjustment wheel make the classic operating concept of the Fujifilm X-T1 unmistakable. In addition, there are six individually definable function keys. Despite the many mechanical elements, the Fujifilm X-T1 is weatherproof and dust proof. The magnesium housing is sealed at 86 points and also collapses up to -10 degrees. In addition to the most important functions in the direct access, numerous basic and special settings can be made via the menu and quickly by means of the Quick button.

The Fujifilm X-E2 (Test) X-Trans-CMOS II sensor with 16.3 megapixels and the corresponding EXR processor Pro II are the core elements of the Fujifilm X-T1. The X-T1 photographer also benefits from the excellent new OLED viewfinder with 786.666 RGB pixels and a fast response time of 0.005 s. According to Fujifilm, the effective search magnification of 0.77x is currently the largest of all electronic cameras. The image appears 16x larger than the X-E2. Fuji uses it in the X-T1 for three picture modes. In Full mode, the subject will take almost the entire image, while Normal will display the subject, including settings as in the X-E2. In the "Dual" mode, the Fujifilm X-T1 splits the image in one with the (reduced) overall image as well as the area of ​​the digital slice image indicator next to it. The LCD Monitor, which can be folded up and down on the X-T1, corresponds to the X-E2 with a 3-inch diagonal and 346,666 RGB pixels.


The Fujifilm X-E2 is equipped with a range of program, aperture and time, manual adjustment, automatic EV / film / dynamic / ISO / WB exposure, and various film modes and digital effects . RAW recordings can be developed in the X-T1 in playback mode. The X-T1 is compatible with the new SD-UHS-II cards. This allows the image data to be stored twice as fast.


Full-HD videos takes the Fujifilm X-T1 as before with with with 1920 x 1080 60p or 30 p on. An external stereo micro can be connected. The integrated WLAN module allows cable-free image transmission to smartphones, tablets or PCs, and now the X-T1 with the "Camera Remote App" also the remote control by mobile device


The Fujifilm X-T1 will be offered as of March 2017 for 1.200 Euro as housing or 1.600 Euro with the Fujinon XF2,8-4 / 18-55 mm R LM OIS. The compact flash-on flash EF-X8 with guide number 8 (ISO 100) is included in the delivery. The energy takes the X-T1 from the same battery type NP-W126 as the X-E models.


The optional VG-XT-1 battery grip with a high-resolution release and space for a second battery is also weather-proof. Alternative is one of the pure handle MHG-XT for 110 euros.


Fujifilm wants to bring three new weatherproof zoom lenses with image stabilization to the market to match the X-T1 this year. In June, Fujinon XF 3.5-5.6 / 18-135 mm R OIS WR (28-200 mm KB) will be the first to come, the bright XF 2.8 / 16-55 mm R OIS WR (24- 82 mm KB) and XF 2.8 / 50-140 mm R OIS WR (75-210 mm KB) are to follow later.
