Nikon confirms dust problem of the D600

Update from 11th December 2012: As now confirmed by ColorFoto demand from the official site at Nikon Deutschland in Düsseldorf, the problem with the dirt on the sensor of the D600-SLRs is now known at Nikon in Tokyo. You should work hard on a solution and then give it as soon as possible.

Nikon D600: Video shows internal dust problem

November 27, 2012: In his blog, the US camera and lens rental company Lensrentals reported at the end of October that borrowed D600 cameras after a short time with unusually much dust particles were returned on the sensor, although they had previously left the house cleaned Code>

While normally only one of four borrowed Lensrental SLR cameras require sensor cleaning, it was all 20 Nikon D600. The dust particles collected preferably in the upper left-hand side of the image, ie, on the lower right of the sensor, as a photograph by Lensrentals shows.

Other reports at Nikonrumors and dpreview confirm the problem, which has nothing to do with a lens change. Canadian photographer Kyle Clements demonstrates it in a time-lapse video, which is on YouTube.

It shows how more and more dust accumulates in the course of 500 images. Lensrentals assumes that internal dust particles in recent D600 cameras are transported by the shutter movement to the sensor. Nikon does not have any reference to the problem either on the American or the American service pages.

In contrast to the Imaging Resource, Nikon USA explained on a very general note: "The measures to reduce the effects of dust or foreign bodies are optimized for each model, so the internal mechanisms of the dust reduction systems of individual models differ , Customers should contact their local Nikon service centers.
