Microsoft has cut 3,000 jobs and is approaching its goal of a total of 18,000 jobs. In this context, 12,500 former Nokia employees are also to be released. This is reported by the online magazine Geekwire
638 posts were deleted in the hometown of Seattle, Washington State. A total of 2,700 employees have now been released in this region. In September 2017, Microsoft still had 42,500 employees in the Seattle area.
The new Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had announced the dismissal of a total of 18,000 Microsoft employees (the PCM colleagues) already announced in June. The deletions should not only streamline performance positions and thin out the administration but also enable the launching of thematic reorientations.
For the beginning of 2017 Microsoft would have planned another, smaller discharge wave, then the goal was reached. It is not yet known whether American employees are also affected by the new redundancies.
