Intel delivers significant quarterly results for the Q3 2017: The US semiconductor manufacturer has exceeded the expectations of analysts and achieved a record turnover. Operating profit increased 12 percent year-on-year to $ 3.32 billion.
More about: Intel
The largest sales and profit was generated by the sale of processors and chipsets for notebooks and PCs. Intel's PC Client Group (PCCG) posted a net profit of 8 per cent in the third quarter of 2017 to $ 9.19 billion in revenue and $ 4.12 billion in net revenue.
In total, the semiconductor giant has sold over 100 million processors in a quarter for the first time. These record sizes contradict the forecasts of a decline in the notebook and PC business.
Intel's Mobile and Communications Group (MCG), on the other hand, generated revenue of $ 1 million, with a loss of $ 1.043 billion. These figures, however, should not be a surprise to Intel. In the previous quarter, the company still had revenue of $ 51 million, with a loss of $ 1.1 billion.
For the fourth quarter, Intel expects revenue of $ 14.2 to $ 15.2 billion.
